Hello everyone! I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself and tell you how and why I became an author.
I'm 45 years old and have been happily married for twenty-five years to Jon, my high school sweetheart. We have three wonderful children! Brittney is 23, Gavin is 20, and Colton just turned 12. They are the light of our lives and are so proud of them!
I love to camp, canoe, fish, watch football, and most of all WRITE!
My first writings were in high school. Every assignment my English teacher would give I would find a way to write a poem. I can't imagine what Mr. Wheeler thought everytime he graded my papers. They were always mooshy gooshy poems about my sweetie!
Some of them were full of love but some not so much! Now that I think back, Mr. Wheeler probably new way more about what was going on in my life than he ever wanted to know!
I never really thought of myself as a writer back then and never entertained the thought of becoming an author. Writing what I did in high school seemed like just another assignment.
As Jon and I started our lives together we were just like any couple. We had our 9-5 jobs, started our family and lived a 'normal' life.
In the last six years we have had several heartbreaking situations in our family. Jon and I have both lost our dads and he has lost three brothers. From December 2006 to April 2012 we have lost twelve very special people.
I started realizing that I felt like I didn't have a purpose in life and that I just simply didn't know what to do to fullfill the empty places in my heart. Finally I decided that the best thing for me was to find a way to use my writing as a way to help people.
I felt like that if I could help others through different situations in their lives and compile information to make transistions for others easier that in turn it could be a very good way to fill my heart again.
I started an information web-site, Visions of Need (www.visionsofneed.com
). I am not very computer savvy and had never had a web-site more less set one up myself but I took the plunge and went for it.
Visions has been such a huge project for me and just the therapy I needed but running a web-site costs money! I thought and thought how best to fund such a web-site.
I had written a book eight years ago and put it in my closet to collect dust and forgot about it. My sister reminded me of the book so I pulled it out of closet, dusted it off, and began my journey to becoming an author.
That book was Pockets and with many many rewrites and the decision to self publish I had my work cut out for me.
Finally in July of 2012 I became and author and publisher all at one time! I am able to support Visions as well as enjoy seeing the excitement of those who read my book!
I hope you all enjoy Pockets and I can't wait to get started on my next project!
Love to all,
